Relaxing weekend in Positive: Excellent location with a lovely pub, restaurant and coffee shop on doorstep. Great proximity to walks. Lovely decor and comfortable bed. A really relaxing weekend and would come again. Negative: Couldn’t get the hang of the coffee machine but I think it was a user error 🙃

A real gem, a great team and a special property. We will be back again, we love it! Positive: We have stayed twice now, and both times have been lovely. Love the decor and soft furnishings, beds were comfortable. A great kitchen to give you options, not having to eat out all the time! Extremely comfortable property! Negative: Nothing we didn’t like!

STYLE OVER SUBSTANCE. EXPENSIVE. POOR. Positive: Location and history. Bed was comfortable. Dog friendly. Negative: Oven disgusting. Coffee machine covered in grease. Fortunes spent on John Lewis small appliances yet not even a microwave. WI-FI patchy to non existent. A £15 Amazon repeater gives impression of connection but utterly useless. Ended up using phone 4g. Advertised with streaming services 'like Netflix'. Implies these are included. Not true. Smart TV with apps. You need your own accounts. And broadband is insufficient to support any streaming. Bathroom door creaks. Front door found insecure on two occasions so security lax. We were disturbed constantly by ignorant guests slamming doors. All taps need a spotlight and magnifying glass - H & C a guessing game. Wash hand basin useless and tap comes off in hand. Tiny table with chairs provided - useless for anything other than the plastic plant present upon arrival. Between the grubby ill equipped kitchen and nowhere useful to sit and eat we ended up eating out. Supposedly a mini museum on the ground floor but constantly locked. GROSSLY OVERPRICED - STYLE OVER SUBSTANCE. AT NEARLY £200 A NIGHT FOR BASICALLY AN ILL EQUIPPED BEDSIT WE FEEL THOROUGHLY RIPPED OFF. IF YOU'RE GOING TO CAPITALISE ON THE POPULAR HISTORY OF A PROPERTY AND CHARGE ACCORDINGLY, AT LEAST PROVIDE THE GOODS.

Everything we hoped for. Positive: Great location and a lovely room, the small kitchen was well equipped and the room was nicely furnished with nice period details. Comfortable bed and the roll top bath was a treat. Negative: The stairs. We might have requested a lower room had we realised but tbh we managed fine once the bags were in. There is no designated parking either but, again, we managed to get on street parking nearby each day so , not a deal breaker.
